On March 28, 2019, the San Jose Taiko group performed for CCA students as part of the themed multi-cultural week. The performers not only demonstrated their amazing percussionist skills, but also provided background knowledge on the Japanese art form of Taiko and invited students on stage for an interactive lesson.
More specifically, Taiko refers to a wide-range of Japanese percussion instruments (drums). Powerful displays of synchronized drumming would be used ceremoniously, in war, and as a means of communication. Today, the tradition is passed down through a unique language mimicking the various sounds that the drums make.
