Organized and led by Ms. Pipersky's Leadership students, CCA recently raised over $1,000 to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Raising a grand total of $1,181.30, students worked with their Common periods to raise money and win various prizes. 

Donations were organized in two ways. Students could donate coins to their Common period to accrue a positive balance for their class. However, during lunch, students were allowed to "sabotage" other Common periods by donating dollar bills ($1, $5, $10, etc.) to deduct the donated amount from the Common's total. For example, if Mr. Holm's class had accumulated $23.00 in change, but a $5 bill was put in their coin jar during lunch, their "total" would then drop down to $18.00.

Organizing this charitable event as a game proved to be quite effective. In total, all the Common periods raised $621.30 in coins and $380 in cash. Leadership also organized a cake walk, requiring the students to actually bake their own cakes, which raised an additional $180. When the charitable event finally came to an end, Mr. Prather's class came out on top, having the highest positive total of donations.

While all students were commended for their hard work and determination, the winning Common period was treated two different prizes. First, students received a voucher for a free snack from the student store. Second, the winning class got to shave Mr. Holm's beard into any design they wanted. In the end, regardless of who won the contest, students walked away with a sense of accomplishment. CCA students worked together to raise awareness and funds for an extremely important cause. Great job, students! Keep up the good work!
